F1Car and Wes Tarbox's sage advice about High Octane Fuel in Dallas
Hey Doug,
There's this place over in Arlington next to Texas
stadium that sell's
it out of the pump, I can get you the name of the place Tuesday. It was pony something I think.
Also run out and get June 2000 issue of sport rider they do a story of high octane fuels.
Basically, 104+ octane boost good for 11.7/1 compression ratio
$4.99 for 16 gallon tank result=nothing.
vp motorsport 103 gasoline $4.75 per gallon tank result=nothing/1hp.
vp c-sp 102.3 octane good for 12/1 compression ratio
result=lost hp $5.25 per gallon.
power-mist rfg 108 octane result=2 hp $7.72 per gallon.
vp c-12 109 octane good for 14/1 compression ratio result=0 hp $5.50 per gallon.
vp-mr#4 104 leaded octane 2.5% oxygen result=2 hp $10.99 per gallon.
vp-mr#3 result=5 hp $25.00 per gallon.test bike suzuki tl1000r base line 102.1hp

It seems like you really have to increase the
compression ratio before you can use these fuels
benefits.
Good luck. F1CAR
I get all my race fuel from Motorsport Sales which is located basically at 635/75 intersection (maybe too far
east for your convenience). They sell Phillips 66 race fuel which is what many top professional teams use.
It is not a blend of a lot of octane boosters, spark knock prohibiters...which are just
that...and aren't a pure race fuel.
I'm no chemist, so don't ask, but I've done some research on the stuff.
You can get 100 or 105 octane unleaded and many different types of leaded fuel.
Their fuel octane is combined research/road octane, so it will be lower than many others who
claim to have really high octane ratings. The 105 has a research octane of 110 and a road
octane of 100, so they rate it at 105.

I stopped by Motorsport Sales on Saturday -
They were closed but I got a picture of the new chrome rims in front of their
locked gate
However, on something that really can benefit from high
octane fuel, the gains are astronomical. On my '90 LX,
for instance, the difference in 93 vs 105 octane is 30+rwhp b/c of the additional timing I can run with the 105.
